A united Europe? We like it This informative article pictured below comes from a pro-Euro publication, issued by Brussels in 1988. It opens with the results of a questionnaire through the 12 member states, claiming it showed that the idea of a united Europe was growing - even for a common defence force. Two in three Europeans, it claims, are personally in favour of the USOE (United States of Europe) - and that those in the original six member states are 70 per cent in favour of the USOE. It further claims that the British are in favour of a fully-grown Euro Government, endowed with appropriate powers, in a USOE. Brits questioned believed that 13 years later (2001) ". . .our soldiers will have the same type of arms and equipment and will assure together the security of the EC against threats from the outside." Pictured beside the article is a tank bearing the emblem of the USOE. Question: When is an army not an army? Answer: When its a rapid reaction force! |
