Bibleography Many Christians claim the Euro-army will be eventually by ruled by a New World Order 'emperor', perhaps the leader of the forthcoming federated United States of Europe. It's army will invade the Middle East with the aim of claiming the ultimate prize, Jerusalem. The invasion, involving other nations from the east, north and south, will biblically culminate in the mother of all battles, Armageddon, a scenario contained in the last book of the New Testament, Revelation. The views expressed in these newspaper extracts and book reviews - in fact the entire website - are not necessarily those of the Editor, but I invite you to contribute articles, views, whatever and I will try to include them in future updates. Prophets of the Apocalypse By David Haggith, £9.99 Harper Collins. Recently the subject of a two part mini-series in the Daily Mail. Copyright David Haggith 2001. 'Adolf Hitler woke up screaming and sat on the edge of his bed as though paralysed. He was seized with a panic that made him tremble so violently that the bed shook beneath him. Gasping for breath as though about to suffocate, with his lips turning blue, he began to utter confused and unintelligible sounds. "It's him! It's him! He's here!" barked the Nazi leader, dripping with sweat. He counted out aloud some numbers that made no sense, followed by seemingly random words and bits of sentences. Then, all of a sudden, he screamed: "There! Over there! In the corner! Who is it?' By now he was jumping up and down and howling. This terrifying scene was reported by Hitler's associate . . . the ravings he describes sound like those of a madman, caught in the grip of paranoid hallucinations.' But, asks author David Haggith, is there a far deeper and more disturbingly devilish explanation? His researches lead him to believe there was, for during WWII many believed Hitler WAS the Antichrist, the evil being that would be Satan's agent on earth at the end of days. The Antichrist, says Haggith, will make the whole world bow down before him, forging a one world government through false promises of peace, before being defeated by Christ's angelic battalions in the battle of Armageddon. Haggith believes that the figure of Antichrist is a real and deadly presence in human history, providing the thread that connects the Roman emperor Nero, the bloodthirsty knights of the Crusades, the torturers of the Inquisition and Hitler's messianic phantasies. 'Hitler tried to eradicate G-d's people, the Jews, and would probably have done the same to the Christians once his power was consolidated.' Hitler is quoted as saying: "The old pagan beliefs will be brought back to honour again. The whole secret knowledge of nature, of the divine, the demonic. We will wash off the Christian veneer and bring out a religion peculiar to our race. I want to see again in the eyes of youth the gleam of the beast of prey." Heavy man, as they used to say in the 60s! Haggith says the hallmark of the Biblical Antichrist is the "marriage of imperial power and corrupted religion" seen in Hitler's life. He acknowledges that Christian fundamentalists see the growth of the European Union in this light. "It was with great excitement among prophecy writers when it was revealed that the affectionate nickname Common Market employees gave their computer was 'the Beast'" Haggith says that perhaps these apocalyptic fears are not without foundation because the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl once said the United States of Europe would form 'the core of a peaceful order. . . the age prophesied of old, when all shall dwell secure and none shall make them afraid.' And Haggith concludes to his credit that such a Utopian dream has never resulted from centralised human authority before - why believe it now, he asks. He concludes that the Book of Revelation makes it patently clear that man's appetite for war will not die until the mother of all battles. Editor's comment: The Daily Mail serialised Haggith's gripping book in two parts in early January 2001 - the first on January 6, headlined 'Evil emperors, the end of the world, and why I believe Adolf Hitler was the Antichrist.' It was heralded : 'Starting today a provocative series by a respected scholar on the secrets of the Bible's book of Apocalypse'.The first part, four pages with colour, was trumpeted:: 'Few books have exercised a deeper influence on the human imagination than the Book of Revelation, the biblical vision of the end of the world. In a challenging new study, the respected American scholar David Haggith suggests that its prophecies are far more than obscure metaphors that many modern commentators suppose. Here, in the first of two articles, he sets out a remarkable analysis of the facts that no reader, believer or sceptic ought to ignore. . . '
Does Hitler's ghost run the Post-Christian Author and publisher unknown, see web editor's comment below. During his lifetime Hitler wrestled with some of the problems which trouble the world today - the Russian Question, the Jewish Question and the European Question, states the author of this fascinating book. He writes: 'These questions, or unsolved problems, all relate to territorial control, and this means war. Certainly that is the way Hitler saw the world. . . But Hitler's Empire was undeniably a vast one, sprawling over Europe and much of Russia at its tidewater mark. 'But in the end he lost it all. Germany suffered a catastrophic military defeat and the world as men knew it was reshaped completely. It was not a brave new world which emerged, but rather a line up of powers . . . 'The first great happenings . . . were the partitioning of defeated Germany and the demilitarisation of Japan. This was followed by the establishment of the State of Israel.' The author traces the collapse of the British Empire and the break up of colonial empires of the European states and as nature abhors a vacuum, Russia rushed in to fill the power gap. 'At one time the British Empire policed the Middle East and guaranteed to USA all the oil it wanted without even paying the policeman. Eisenhower ruined all that when he aborted the Anglo-French invasion of Egypt. 'From then on the area became chaotic with feuding Arabs offering no real barrier to Russian penetration. But once again Russia's plans were thwarted because, in the words of General De Gaulle "A new warrior state has arisen - Israel". The prize for which World War 3 will be fought can now be clearly seen, according to the author: Middle East oil. The Jewish Question The Jewish Question is a paradox, states the author, G-d promised the land of Israel unconditionally to Abraham's seed, the Jews. 'The reality is that they haven't get it in secure tenure. Their warrior Kind David took Jerusalem by the sword, made it his capital and put his son Solomon on the throne. 'Solomon built the temple at Jerusalem. However he set a bad example to his subjects by taking foreign wives who led him to worship their gods. 'Idolatry spread throughout the land and G-d sent the Gentile King Nebuchadezzar against the Jews in punishment. He razed the temple and made the people prisoners of war. 'In time the Jews partially returned from exile, and even rebuilt their temple. But the land itself was subjugated by Rome at the time of Christ. When Jesus came, offering them the kingdom, they rejected Him as their king, and delivered Him to the Romans to be crucified.' The author claims that as punishment for rejecting Jesus, G-d sent Titus, the son of Vespasian, against Jerusalem. He drove the Jews out of their land, razed their temple and their capital, Jerusalem. When Constantine became Emperor of Rome he proclaimed Jerusalem a Christian city.' He then brings the story closer to date when after the war millions of European Jews uprooted by Hitler clamoured for entry into their Promised Land. 'The Arabs who were sitting on the enormous oil wealth of the Middle East passionately opposed their immigration into Israel. Britain was in no position to oppose Arab demands. 'She had fought WW2 on five continents and the world's oceans and had been at war longer than any other Allied nation.The war had consumed 25 per cent of her national wealth and left her practically bankrupt. 'So she took the path of expediency and curtailed Jewish immigration to Palestine. This brought immense suffering to the Jews who were detained in camps with no hope of going anywhere. Some tried to escape in leaky boats which foundered. Others made a successful passage, only to be intercepted and turned back by the British.' The Jews in Palestine retaliated by waging partisan-terrorist war, whichever viewpoint you have, against the 'occupying' British Army. He says that Britain could not afford the financial burden of a Vietnam type war in her poor financial condition. So when the mandate expired on May 13, 1948, Britain did not petition the UN for renewal. The next day the new State of Israel was officially proclaimed. '. . . We can identify the event in Isaiah 19. Isaiah puts it this way: 'All inhabitants of the world and dwellers of the earth: When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it; And when he blows a trumpet you hear it'. 'The banner was the official blue and white flag of the State of Israel displaying the star of David, their warrior king. It was unfurled at the first Zionist Conference in Basel, Switzerland. Now it was to be flown on the mountains of Israel. 'Then a trumpet was to be sounded, for Israel was soon to emerge as a warrior state like Hitler's Germany after war with superior Arab armies attested to the martial qualities of the Israelites.' If, as Napoleon said, Prussia was born from a cannonball so too was Israel, claims the author. 'When the British evacuated the land, Arab armies moved in but were repulsed. To make room for the flood of Jewish immigrants several hundred thousand Palestine Arabs were expelled from Israel. This was the genesis of the terrorist PLO of today.' He quotes the Old Testament prophet Isaiah warning that the world was to see and take notice (of what was happening) 'And so the world moved the explosive question of what was to be done with Palestine to the UN for resolution. The same day the UN was deliberating the question a double 'bomb' rocked the discussion. 'The General Assembly was told about Israel's proclamation of statehood and also that the United States had granted de facto recognition of it. Russia followed suit on May 17.' The says the author events then took an ominous turn. The United States assumed England's role of "the land shadowing with wings" and Russia became Israel's oppressor, using the Arabs as her surrogates. '. . . The Jewish question in Hitler's time was the presence in Gentile lands of Jews who maintained their identity as separate people with their own customs and religion yet owed allegiance to no state of their own. 'This was the problem the Zionists tried to resolve by creating the State of Israel. All they did was transfer the Jewish question to the land of Israel, where it took another form. 'The Jewish question today is basically Israel's right to exist as a nation within its own territorial boundaries, a right which its Arab neighbours will not concede. 'Following an address to the Canada Israel Committee in Toronto, Irwin Cotler, Professor of International Law at McGill University passed some comments on the Arab perception of Israel. ". . . they claim that the issue is not one of boundaries, but one of Israel's existence . . . And we have to take the Arabs at their own word . . . the real problem is whether the juridical fact of Israel's existence will be recognised." 'The Arab hatred is captured in the words of Jeremiah 48:2: "Come and let us cut her off from being a nation." ' The author puts his finger on the button when he says that two things characterize Israel - commercial prosperity and incessant war. It was true then and its true today, in the latest uprising intafada, the prosperity of Israel is such a contrast with the continuing irritation, ie if only the poorer Arabs would just behave it would be so wonderful. The author reflects on the blooming miracle worked by the industrious Jews, that when the Arabs occupied the land it was virtually a desert. Israelis have built cities and populated them with engineers, scientists, technologist, and artisans such as those who have made Israel the centre of the world's diamond cutting industry Editor's comment: When I visited the old city of Jerusalem in 1998 - fifty years after the founding of the state of Israel - I could easily tell the difference between the Arab and Jewish quarters, even without demarcation. The Jewish quarter was like any Western mall, well kept, polished stones, litter free - stepping into the Arab quarter was a bit like going back a few thousand years to the biblical Jerusalem, and what made it less anaethetic was its noise, bustle and chatter, and there at the Damascus Gate were a posse of Israeli soldiers, guns, sticks and helmets, just in case. It was a bit like stepping back to Jerusalem under Roman occupation, with the zealots being shown who was boss, only the Jews claim its their land and that the Palestinians are the immigrant workers. One night I rather foolishly ventured out into the alleyways in the Arab quarter and as I walked along a crowd of Jerusalemites appeared, as I walked past one lad asked: "Which country do you come from?" I thought quickly and replied: "I am a citizen of the world" as Iwent round the corner and beat a hasty retreat back to my digs. I later learned, on mentioning my midnight adventure, that several Jews had recently been attacked and killed, on the route I took. Anyway back to the book . . . 'They have irrigated the desert and made it blossom like a rose. This prosperity is suggested in these words "When the blossoming is over and the flower becomes a ripening grape" 'Then they are deprived of the fruit of their labours by constant wars with the Arabs. These wars generate inflation and high taxes to finance the war machine. The result is a lowered standard of living - the figure indicating this being the cutting down of the branches. 'G-d allows them to return to Israel in unbelief, to prosper for awhile, and then raises up enemies against them - the Arabs and Russians. "They shall be left together to the mountain birds of prey and to the beast of the earth" (meaning they will be under both air and ground attack) "and the birds of prey shall summer upon them and all the beasts of the earth shall winter on them" (meaning the attack is uninterrupted - both summer and winter). Everyone who tries to solve the Jewish question gets burned as G-d predicted, states the author quoting from the prophet Zechariah. 'I will make Jerusalem a cup of bewilderment to all the peoples round about . . . I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone to all peoples . . . all that burden themselves with it shall certainly be wounded' Zechariah 12:2,3. He claims the because the super powers do not know about this prediction or ignore it, or scoff at it, they are punished for their intervention just as G-d said they would be. And he asks: 'Why should they become involved in the affairs of this postage stamp nation? It is nonsense to say that the USA helps Israel because it is a democracy. Perhaps the subconscious part of Western man remembers the holocaust and thinks of Israel as a sponge to absorb Jewish refugees if anti-Semitism breaks out again. 'Nobody else would want them or could absorb them. The same reason may partly explain the Arab attitude toward Israel, for increased immigration would multiply Israel's power. 'The important point is that the world is split over the Jewish question. Israel has become a client state of the United States and the Arabs have become client states of Russia.' Although the Soviet Empire has effectively disappeared since the book was first published, the author's comments remain relevant, he continues: 'Both superpowers use their client states to test their weapons - the same tactic used in the Spanish Civil War before WW2 broke out. 'The Arabs and Israelis are also engaged in commercial war, blacklists, oil embargoes, etc and in political war - the Jewish vote in the United States vs Arab propaganda in the media and UN. 'This preliminary skirmishing can only lead to war. Will it be a local war confined once more to the Arabs and Jews or will Russia intervene? 'Russia wants Israel because it is the land bridge linking three continents - Asia, Africa and Europe. Possession of Israel would enable Russia to dominate the Middle East and cut off the West's oil supply. For this reason the Jewish question and the European question are interlocked.' The European Question The European question is all about how Europe can avoid domination by Russia. Napoleon and Hitler both tried to solve this question by pre-emptive military strike, both failed, says the author. 'They were the leaders of the most powerful the European states - France and Germany. Following Hitler's death it became apparent that no one European state was strong enough to block Russia. 'Consequently the European state began to federate in an attempt to form a common shield against Russian attack. The United States buttressed the loose European federation by becoming the prime mover in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. 'The world today is polarised into the opposing NATO and Warsaw Pact powers, with an uneasy balance of terror holding open warfare in check.' Now the author dips into the Book of Revelation stating 'This implicit truce is not likely to be broken until Hitler, the rider of the red horse, draws his great sword - Revelations 6:4.' And he adds: 'The European question is thus part of our opening consideration - the Russian question. The Jewish question is sandwiched between, because of the strategic location of Israel.' The author states that Israel's position is akin to Belgium's in 1914, for although small and insignificant, its strategic location was an avenue for Nazi hordes to invade neighbouring France, turning what might have been a Euro war in a world war. 'It seems likely that WW3 will be touched off by some Russian move against Israel,' concludes the writer. Editor's further comment: These are photo-copied extracts from a book I was briefly loaned some years ago. I cannot attribute neither author or publishers, because its name does not appear on the top of the pages, so if you do know, or even wrote it - please make contact. I would love to get hold of it, and with copyright permission, use further chapters relating to the European theatre and its relationship with Israel, considering that now the EU appears most interested in the Middle East - with oil top of the agenda no doubt. Obviously the author has written prior to the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain, but though Russia's worldly ambitions have severely curtailed, she remains a nuclear power, and as was witnessed in slaughtering Chechens, massive Red Square military parades and recent missile tests in February 2001, the bear ain't dead yet.
The Coming of Civilisation By Ron Carter, Macdonald Educational Ltd, first published 1978 Economy and law For most things, the Roman empire was self sufficient, forming its own 'common market' with private craftsmen supplying local needs. The most important external trade, which was government controlled, was in slaves, who came from the Germanic lands to the north and from the old Persian empire; and silk and spices were imported from China; inscense from Yemen and pepper from India. Trading with other countries was a lengthy business, as land transport was slow and seafaring risky, so inland waterways were always used where possible. The Roman emperors were continuously issuing new edicts. A great body of law existed but clever lawyers were nevertheless often able to baffle less knowledgeable judges, before the law was never codified until after Rome had collapsed in the West, when the job was undertaken by Justinian. Editor's comment: History repeating itself, or what! The Roman Empire Further extracts from W.E.Vine's book Palestine annexed This century saw the actual interference of Rome in the affairs of Judea. Syria has been made a province in 65BC by the Roman General Pompey, and from thence he intervened in a strife which had for some time been raging amongst the leaders of the Jews. In 63 he marched an army into Judea and took Jerusalem. At the final assault upon the Temple 12,000 Jews perished. Judea thus passed under the iron heel. As a result of the wars of Caesar in north-western Europe, in 58-51BC, what are now Switzerland, France and Belgium were subdued and Britain was invaded. By Caesar also Roman authority in Africa was consolidated across the entire length of the north of the continent. The conquests of Rome as a Republic were complete. The Mediterranean had become a 'Roman lake'. The Empire Completed In 27BC the purely Republican form of constitution was abolished , and the government of the Roman world was concentrated in the hands of an Emperor, the Caesar Augustus of Luke chapter 2 verse 1. In his reign were fulfilled the prophecies foretelling the Birth of Christ. When the Prince of Peace was born in Bethlehem the din of strife was hushed throughout the empire, and Rome, under the restraining hand of God, ceased for a time its warring. By Augustus the northern territories of the empire were extended to practically the entire length of the Danube. The greater part of Britain became a province under Claudius. A later Emperor, Trajan, added, at the beginning of the second century AD, the province of Dacia, covering what are now Transylvania and most of Roumania. Under Marcus Aurelius (161-180) a large part of Mesopotamia was finally annexed. This completes the actual conquests of the Romans. We will now note certain characteristics of their method of subjugation, viewed in the light of Daniel's prophecy concerning the fourth kingdom, that, like iron, it would "break in pieces and crush." The Crushing of the Nations The crushing process was evidenced in many ways, and especially by the establishment of a general system of slavery, which almost everywhere supplanted free labour. Slave-hunting and slave-dealing became a profession. To such an extent were they carried on at one period that certain provinces were well nigh depopulated. We are told that at the great slave-market in the island of Delos, off Greece, as many as ten thousand slaves were disembarked in the morning and ought up before the evening of the same day. Chained gangs worked under overseers and were confined in prison at night. To take an instance of the extreme rigour of the laws regulations the traffic, it is recorded by the historian Tacitus, that once, when the Prefect of Rome had been killed by one of his slaves, of whom he owned a vast number, the whole of his slaves, many of them women and children, were executed together , in accordance with an ancient law. The event took place about the time, apparently , at which the apostle Paul arrived at Rome. But not only were the nations ground down by slavery, the pages of Roman history abound in records of wholesale massacre and butchery. We may not for instance, Luke's statement of Pilate's slaughter of Galilaens while they were sacrificing (Luke 13.1). Record abound too, of grossly burdensome taxation and financial exactions, in which the Romans outdid all tyrants that had preceded them. Usury flourished in the last century BC as it had never done before. Four per cent per month was an ordinary exaction for a loan to a community. On one occasion a Roman banker, who had a claim on the municipality of Salamis, in Cyprus, kept its council blockaded until five of its members died of hunger. By these methods the provinces of the empire were at one period reduced to a condition of unsurpassed misery. Editor's comment: The Roman Empire meant Pax Romana - but only if you worshipped the Emperor as a god.. The cry 'We have no king but Caesar' was one way to avoid crucifixion, but will history repeat itself with the EU demanding total loyalty from its vasal regions. Wonders of Prophecy By Colin Urquhart, published by Pickering and Inglis, May 1945 Rome ever held her head on high as if she felt she was the world's Queen. She would make no peace with a victorious foe: she might be sore bested, but she never acknowledged weakness. When Hannibal had shattered her dominion in Italy itself and was threatening her very existence, the donations sent by the king of Syracuse and the Greek cities of Italy were declined courteously, but with unbending hautiness. A more terrible trial awaited her. Her last army was annihilated at Cannae. On that fatal field 70,000 of her choicest sons lay cold and stiff, and her power seemed to have perished with them. But even then Rome would not despair nor give way to a moment's weakness. The cheek might pale, but the head was still erect, the step was firm. As marked a feature as her refusal to make peace with a victorious enemy was her inability to bear the existence of a rival. Cato's Delenda est Carthago (Cathage must be blotted out) was simply a statement of the deliberate policy of Rome. Foes must be beaten, rivals must be crushed. Cato's decree was carried out by Scipio, one of the must humane Romans of his time, and this is the way in which the deed was done: "for seventeen days the city was inflames, and the numbers that were exterminated amounted to 700,000 souls, including the women and children sold into slavery: so that this scene of horror served as an early prelude to the later destruction of Jerusalem . . .Whenever Roman interests were at stake, all mankind, and the lives of nations, were considered of no importance." Whatever Rome touched with a finger, was certain to be crushed at last beneath her feet. Judea is a similar instance. sorely pressed by the Greco-Syrian power, she placed herself in 160 BC under Roman protection. Not a hundred years after, in 63 BC, Pompey, at the head of a triumphant army, is appointing whom he pleases to the throne, and to the high-priesthood. In the year 7AD the shadow of its independence had gone, and it is made a province of the Roman Empire. In 70 AD resistance is crushed by deluging the land with blood and turning it into a desert. . . . Herder speaks of "the blood drenched soil of Roman glory: and sums up Roman history in two words, "Ravage and destruction" It was he says "as if the iron footed god of war, Aradivus, so highly revered of old by the people of Romulus, actually bestrode the globe, and at every step struck out new torrents of blood. . ." . . . The fragments of the fourth dominion are assuming their final shape. The last line of division between the eastern and western empire passed down what is now the western boundary of Austria, down through the Adriatic, and cross the Mediterranean, striking the coast of Africa to the west to Cyrene. If we are to follow the indications of the first vision, we shall expect to find five kingdoms in each of the two empires. What, then of their present condition? It has to be borne in mind that the northern limits of the Roman dominion were the Rhine and the Danube. Russia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Holland, are, therefore excluded from our reckoning. A few decades age were should have looked in vain in the empire of the West for the five powers of the prophecy. for many centuries Italy was subdivided into a number of kingdoms and principalities; and its unification has been one of the surprises of modern history. As to Germany, the bulk of its territory lies outside the limits of the Roman Empire. Modern developments thus give us, in the Old Empire of the West, four stronger powers: Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy and three weaker ones: Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland: together with a portion of Germany. Turning to the lands of the Eastern Empire, were are confronted with an equally startling development. In the West, the process has been from the many to the few, in the East, it has been from the one dominion of the Moslems to the few. It is most significant that in the East the number five was avoided in 1878 by the appearing together of Montenegro, Serbi, Rumania and Bulgaria. Now, as in the West, there are four stronger powers and a few weaker countries. For the first time in the history of the ancient Roman territory, we are faced with an equality of the powers in the West and in the East. An economic problem It is a fact which ought to be more widely known that the Jews are mostly very generous to one another; and that a large number of Jews are very liberal in their religious contributions. They have been, through long centuries, brutally treated by many Gentile nations. So it is no marvel if they are not generous as a rule to the Gentiles. An example of this is found in a country like Poland, where very serious difficulty have eventuated for the peasants and others through the presence of a large and hard-working and financially keen Jewish population Ungodly and abominable solutions to this economic Jewish problem have been attempted and are still being attempted. In the years 1919 to 1922 in Ukrania along, 150,000 Jews were murdered in pogroms. In 1924 or 1925 , Jews were murdered even in Dublin. In 1924, in London, members of the Mile End Board of Guardians, seriously advocated the holding of a pogrom in East London. In Germany, there were, first of all, "the knight of the fiery cross" and now we have the brutalities of Hitlerism. In almost all of Europe, the Jews are NOT WANTED; and they are beginning to feel that in our modern world they are not really safe in any country. History is repeating itself; the Egyptian persecution is being paralleled. And so this problem has become An international problem Palestine is only a small corner of the land that God promised to Abraham; and it is possible for Palestine today to absorb more than a small fraction of the Jews who now feel unsafe in other lands. Besides, as we all know, the Jews are by no means safe in Palestine at the present moment. Before Israel entered the Land, they were admonished by G-d: "The land is Mind; for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me" and, centuries later, the prophet Hosea declared: "My G-d will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto Him; and they shall be wanders among the nations." And history has testified to the truthfulness of these words. In 135 AD the Jews were banished from Jerusalem and its neighbourhood. Nearly seventeen centuries later, in 1800, there were not more than 300 Jews in Jerusalem; and in 1827 the number in all Palestine was only 500. But it was also predicted that in the latter days there would be a return of the Jews to the Land; and we all know how marvellously this is now being fulfilled. In 1865 the number was 10,000, in 1908 it was 45,000, the Sultan had invited Jews, in 1906, to come to Palestine. When the war began, the number had risen to 100,000, most of whom had then to leave. In 1922, the number had mounted again to 45,000, four years later it stood at 140,000. In 1934 it was 300.000 at least. these Jews have so prospered and have so transformed many portions of the country. . . the Jewish problem is most of all A religious problem Why does the Jewish race exist at all? In other words, for what purpose did G-d call Abraham out of Ur of the Chaldees? "Get thee out of thy country . . . unto a land that I will show thee; and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make they name great; and thou shall be a blessing; and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee" (Hitler and Co. had better watch out!) "And in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." For out of Abraham was to come One that was to be the world deliverer. "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from among his descendant, until Shiloh come; and until Him shall the gathering of the peoples be." The very time of His manifestation was also predicted; as also the strange fact that His very own nation would reject Him - as a nation; the result being a world wide mission of blessing among all peoples. But that is not the finish of the story. It is equally certain that the predictions concerning Israel's repentance and final deliverance will be historic face; for G-d Himself will solve this Jewish Problem "I will pour out upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications; and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn . . . In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and uncleanness . . . Behold, the day of the Lord cometh. . . I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle . . . then shall the Lord go forth and fight against these nations . . . the Lord my G-d shall come, and all the saints with The . . . And the Lord shall be King over all the earth" Then shall this Jewish problem be full and finally solved; and never until then. As we go to press with this Second Impression, it has been thought advisable to add some further facts concerning this Jewish Problem as it relates to the war years 1939-1945. Both the blessing and the curse pronounced in Genesis 12.3 have come upon the Jews during this terrible War. As I write, we are rejoicing in the just-signed unconditional surrender of Germany to Britain, the United States, Russia and France. The curse has fallen upon Hitler and all those who helped him in his fiendish cruelties practised upon the Jewish people. Once more the Jew stands looking down into the grave of a mighty foe. Because of that policy of anti-Semitism, endorsed by the great majority of Germans, the German nation lies prostrate in the dust of a defeat without parallel. And the divine blessing has manifestly been with those who have shown kindness to the Jews. It will always be remembered that, when the Germans swept into Poland, and the great European centre of Judaism lay open to annihilation, the Russian government threw wide open the Eastern boundary, and vast numbers of Jews escaped Poland into Russian territory. As to Poland and the Jews, it should also be remembered that such was the anti-Jewish fanaticism of the Polish government in 1939, that one of the last acts of their Parliament was to pass a law which deprived tens of thousands of Jews any means of earning a livelihood. The evil persecution of Polish Jews through the previous 10 centuries at last "came in remembrance before G-d" the G-d of Israel; and a terrible judgement fell upon Poland. The Modern Haman The Book of Esther is divinely inspired history which reads like a drama of thrilling interest. The villain is Haman, and his outstanding villainy was his determination to murder off all the Jews and to appropriate their possession. The great significance of that history, for us today, lies in the fact that since Haman's time , that is during 2,400 years, never has any one, until Adolph Hitler, entered upon a campaign to exterminate the Jewish race. Hitler might truly be regarded as the modern Haman. Divine retribution brought both to an ignoble end. G-d has yet a great work for Israel to do. The bible proves this; and so does the remarkable preservation to this very day, of the Jewish people. The Thorny problem of Palestine The 'Balfour Declaration' was indeed most acutely worded. What exactly was meant by the phrase 'a national home in Palestine'? What is the force of the word 'national'? Yet no honest man can defend the infamous 'White Paper' of 1939; that atrocious sample of appeasement policy. Long ago, when a king of Spain ordered the elimination of the Jews from that country, a Rabbi was brought before him, and made this striking statement: "Your Majesty now desires to destroy us; but you will not be able to do so, for there is a blessing upon us. The time will come when you will wish to exalt us; but you will not be able to do so, for there is a curse upon us." Certainly that Rabbi rightly interpreted Jewish history. Will those nations now well disposed toward the Jews be able to bring about their national blessing? Can Israel be blessed while rejecting the Lord Jesus? The ownership of Palestine This world war has been made an occasion for an Arab claim to Palestine. This claim is ridiculous in the extreme. During and after the last War, the Arabs received a great deal for very little; and the United Nations during this War have received from the Arabs far more trouble and treachery than help. It will be appropriate to state here the facts. The occupation by the Jews began in BC 1546. Even during the period of Babylonian captivity a considerable number of Jews continued to live in the Land. The control of Palestine passed to the Roman Empire, when it was made a Roman province in AD 6; but it was, of course, still occupied by Jews. Thus the Jewish occupation lasted for 1,551 years, and more. The Roman Imperial control lasted until AD 607; and again (after 21 years of Persian control) from 628 to 637; and again (after Arab control for 329 years) from 966 to 1010 - a total of 654 years. The various periods of Arab control, between 637 and 1299, amount in all to 413 years. The Turks, including the Tartars and the Mongolian Mamelukes, were in control of Palestine for 12 years - from 1084 to 1096, and for 608 years - from 1309 to 1917, a total of 620 years. The Jews are the only people who have been successful in cultivating the land. The Arabs are largely, and perhaps mainly, descended from Ishmael, who was set aside by G-d in favour of Isaac, as far as possession of the Land was concerned. Abraham's other six sons were likewise set aside. Isaac's only sons were Esau and Jacob; and the promise of the Land was divinely confirmed to Jacob, Esau being set aside. Palestine will never belong, by any real right of possession, to any people but the Jews. It is however very noteworthy that, while it is called in scripture 'the land of Israel' it is never called 'the land of Jacob'. Until the Jews get right with G-d, by accepting the Lord Jesus as their divine Messiah, the Land will not be theirs. It is a sad and significant fact that Zionist leaders have recently declared that, as soon as they get control of Palestine, all Christian missionary activity there will be stopped. When the Jews repent and accept the Lord Jesus they will be given not only Palestine, but also the rest of the great Land of Promise, and will be a blessing in the midst of the whole earth. Ultra Orthodox Jewish sects do not recognise the existence of the State of Israel, believing G-ds chosen people can only be established when Messiah comes. The reference to 'Arabs being set aside by G-d' will inflame Arabs. According to the Bible G-d protected Ishmael and his mother Hagah when they were expelled into the desert to starve by Abraham, who had many wives and concubines, and Sarah, the mother of Isaac, and the Jewish nation. God also promised Ishmael he would be the father of a nation, the Arabic world. Genesis records in Chapter 21 v 21 v 13 '. . . and I will make (Ishmael) a nation, because he is thy seed.' In the desert G-d said to Hagar "Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation' and further on 'And G-d was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness and became an archer.' Ishmael, the Bible records, lived in the wildnerness and later married an ethnic Egyptian, the country that gave a safe haven to Jesus and his mother Mary when they became refugees fleeing from persecution in Palestine. The Bible entreats us to love our neighbour and Jews are told to be kind to the stranger, because once they were 'strangers' in many lands. . . Egypt, Babylon, in fact most countries of the world have a Jewish community. Jesus, faced with the supplementary question: And who is my neighbour? told a parable known as the Good Samaritan. Read it. Emnity between Jews and Moslem Arabs has at its root a family squabble dating back to Abraham - if only he'd stuck to one wife! There is a reference in the Bible to Egypt and Israel being finally reconciled, but it won't come from a peace treaty signed by human hand. THE EUROPEAN COMMON MARKET The Common Market, also called The Treaty of Rome, originally consisted of Italy, France, West Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg who signed the treaty in 1957. On the French coast an answering bonfire was lit to acknowledge the historic occasion. Britain's entry into the Common Market paved the way for Norway, Denmark and Eire to follow suit. Time Magazine (November 8.1971) noted that The Ten will account for one third of the world's trading compared with 14 per cent for the US. One of the most remarkable prophecies in the Bible concerns Nebuchadnezzar's dream which was interpreted by Daniel. The dream concerned a colossus which had a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, torso of brass, and legs, feet and toes of iron. Daniel interpreted the meaning of the various metals as symbolising four great empires. The head of gold represented Neb's Babylonian kingdom. The chest and arms of silver pointed to the Medo-Persian empire which was to follow the defeat of Babylon. The torso and thighs of brass represented the Grecian empire under Alexander the Great. This in turn was followed by the fourth great empire, Rome, signified by the two legs, feet and ten toes. Daniel revealed that the ten toes would be ten kings that would arise out of the former Roman empire (Daniel &:24) He then revealed that in the days of these kings, the G-d of Heaven would set up a kingdom which would never be destroyed. During the reign of the ten kings there would arise one who was designated in the Bible as "the king of fierce countenance" "the abomination" "the man of sin" and "the beast" This evil ruler would take over the ten powers that would arise out of the former Roman empire. He finally would lead his armies against Jerusalem in the great battle of the end time known as Armageddon. The present ten signatories to the Treaty of Rome do not all form part of the former Roman empire, as Norway, Denmark and Eire lay outside Rome's far flung boundaries of ancient times. However, should changes occur which would bring in three other countries, which were part of the Roman empire as are the other seven signatories to the Treaty of Rome, then the stage will be set for the fulfilment of Daniel's prophecy, which reveals the judgement that will be visited upon these nations when they come up against Jerusalem in battle. Smith, published by Smith Family Publishing, 1997 Barry Smith is utterly convinced that the beast - a nickname given by the way to the Brussels super computer - mentioned in the Book of Revelation, will be a coming EEC (EU) leader and the false prophet the One World Leader. This is a gigantic computer which takes up three floors at the administration building of the Market headquarters. This monster is a self-programming unit that has over one hundred sensing input sources. Computer experts have been working on a place to computerise all world trade. The major plan involves a digital numbering system for every human on earth. The computer world assign to each citizen of the world a number for use for all buying and selling, to avoid the problems of ordinary credit cards. The number would be invisibly laser tattooed on the forehead or back of the hand, and would provide a walking credit card system. The number would show up under infra-red scanners to be placed at all check out counters and places of business. Dr Eldeman suggested that by using a three, six digital unit e.g 437189 652834 725182 the entire world could be assigned working credit card numbers." Smith believes that credit cards, such as Visa are the forerunner of an international credit card, saying that they are only the next step before a mark on the body, or I suppose a computer read out like the identity 'tags' injected below the skin of pets that can be read with scanners He very clearly identifies a forthcoming leader of the EEC (EU) as the antichrist: "The EEC Leader's Reign: Is portrayed in the Bible as being in four stages. To understand this, is to understand the timing of the coming of the Lord Jesus for His Bride. "In Revelation 6:1-8 there are four horses portrayed. These are the four stages of the EEC leader's ministry. The rider is the same man who changes horses regularly: "Seal One - White Horse EEC Leader - Man of Peace. Seal Two - Red Horse - EEC Leader - Man of War. Seal Three - Black Horse - EEC Leader - Man of Food Distribution in Time of Famine. Sal Four - Pale Horse - EEC Leader _Man of Death - Kills rebels who refuse mark (of the beast)." Smith says the world leaders in the education have sown the wind and are now reaping a whirlwind - student revolt, strikes, civil disobedience and wars, showing clearly that democracy cannot last. He quotes Plato, the Greek philosopher, as saying: "No democracy can last for very long. It will ultimately turn into a tyranny". As a cover, the EEC leader will begin his public work as a man of peace, the Middle East crisis will be brought to a temporary hold, a treaty will be signed and things will look good - the kind of thing that has been happening every since the State of Israel came into being then! He believes that during this time of peace, "Israel generally will disband its armies, defences will come down, and Peace will last for nearly three and a half years." Well, Israel has been on red alert all of its life and there will certainly have to be some kind of amazing peace deal for her to relax her stance amongst the Arab nations who want her destroyed. All the world will be watching this white horseman, who Smith calls antichrist, for he points out that also in Revelation, there is another white horse carrying Christ - a rider identified as 'faithful - the word of G-d' 'true - the king of kinds' and 'secret name - Lord of Lords' and other kingly attributes. Smith says that everyone in the EEC will look to this leader to solve all problems, certainly todays the EU is placing a toe hold in the Middle East and has its eyes on the region; he then looks at the other riders ending with the Man of Death. This time the antichrist will move from good, to bad, to worse, to the very worst and by this time, predicts Smith, the New World Money System involving computers (Thanks a million, Bill) and individual numbering of human being is under way. A book, widely advertised in Jewish websites links one of America's and the world's top computer giant as having a hand in the holocaust, aiding the Nazi roundup of Jewish people. Well, it looks like this time the computer will be coming for those who reject the so-called mark of the beast and New World Order.
